A trip to Barcelona offers visitors a chance to enjoy Catalan culture, taste Spanish cuisine and admire the architecture of Gaudi. The Gothic Quarter is steeped in history while the Olympic Port indicates the city’s willingness to move with the times and develop new attractions. Accommodations in Barcelona range from cheap hostels to five-star hotels. Several boutique hotels have opened in recent years, offering guests eye-catching design and a commitment to providing the best in customer service.

Husa Oriente
The Husa Oriente is a boutique hotel located at the heart of the famous Paseo de Las Ramblas in Barcelona. Guests have immediate access to the art and street entertainment on display along Las Ramblas while the entrance to the Gothic Quarter is only yards away. The hotel occupies both a 17th century convent and a 19th century building and has been renovated with period furniture to give a taste of its history. Guests can choose between rooms with views of Las Ramblas or the old convent cloisters. The surrounding area offers a range of dining options, including tapas and seafood restaurants as well as pizzerias and steakhouses.

ME Barcelona
ME Barcelona is a modern hotel that soars into the Barcelona skyline. Located within walking distance of the Agbar Tower and the Barcelona International Convention Center, it offers panoramic views from its Sky Food Bar, gourmet dining and a sixth floor sundeck and pool. Guests wanting to splurge might try booking one of The Level suites which offer VIP treatment, access to an exclusive lounge on the 25th floor and complimentary amenities such as Wii, in-room iPod and an ironing service.

Neri Hotel and Restaurant
The Neri Hotel was built through the combined renovation of a medieval palace and a building that was originally destroyed in the Spanish Civil War. Roman remains were found underneath the site during building work. Its current design includes Renaissance style mural paintings and the work of artists from the tropics. The hotel is located in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, within walking distance of the Gothic Cathedral and Plaza Cataluna. It has a lounge bar, terrace and 35-seat restaurant with a Mediterranean menu. Guests can enjoy services including towelling robe and slippers, plasma TV and a room massage service.

Hotel Actual
Gaudi fans will enjoy the views from the Hotel Actual, located in Barcelona’s upmarket Gracia neighbourhood. Situated near modernist buildings such as Casa Batilo and Sagrada Familia, the hotel is on the same block as La Pedrera, one of the city’s iconic Gaudi creations. Fashionable shops such as Chanel, Gucci and Armani are close by and Las Ramblas is within 15 minutes walk. The hotel has a cafeteria, a television and reading room and a tourist information service. Special offers are regularly advertised on the hotel’s website.
